Hexagram 37 · 风火家人

The Family

Wood · Xun palace

Inner order and roles; discipline begins at home.

Meaning

Wind from fire: influence that starts inside and moves outward. The Family concerns the internal order of a group and the conduct of those within it.

Decision Framework

Order the inside first.

Decision Guidance

The Family directs attention inward. It appears when external goals are being undermined by internal disorder — unclear roles, unresolved friction, or standards that are not consistent between what is said and what is done.

The classical text links the strength of an institution to the discipline of its household, and grounds that discipline in reliability rather than severity. Define who is responsible for what, keep your own conduct consistent with the standard you set, and let small corrections happen early. Order inside is what makes effort outward effective.
