Hexagram 59 · 风水涣

Dispersion

Wood · Li palace

Dissolving division; reduce the barrier and move.

Meaning

Wind over water: a force that scatters surface tension. Dispersion concerns the breaking up of what has separated people.

Decision Framework

Dissolve the division and set things moving.

Decision Guidance

Dispersion is about ending separation. It appears where an alliance has fragmented, a group has drifted, or inertia and self-interest have hardened into a barrier that keeps things stuck.

The classical instruction is to dissolve the obstacle rather than confront it. That usually means an act of movement or generosity—a ritual of reconnection, a visible commitment, or simply the decision to cross the gap yourself. The hexagram is favourable to reconnecting, but it also warns that dispersal is easy and regrouping takes deliberate effort.
