Hexagram 16 · 雷地豫

Enthusiasm

Wood · Zhen palace

Momentum through shared excitement; direct it well.

Meaning

Thunder emerging from the earth: energy released suddenly and visibly. Enthusiasm concerns the mobilising power of collective excitement.

Decision Framework

Rally people, then give it structure.

Decision Guidance

Enthusiasm is the hexagram of momentum and morale. It appears when people are ready to be moved, and the opportunity lies in turning shared feeling into organised effort.

The caution attached to it is about durability. Feeling alone does not sustain a long project, and enthusiasm that is not given a plan, a rhythm and a clear next step tends to dissipate as quickly as it arrived. Use the energy to start and to recruit; then convert it into structure before it fades.
