Hexagram 32 · 雷风恒

Duration

Wood · Zhen palace

Consistency over time; steadiness outlasts intensity.

Meaning

Thunder and wind together: movement that continues. Duration concerns the things that last, and the discipline required to keep them lasting.

Decision Framework

Be consistent; sustain what already works.

Decision Guidance

Duration is about persistence and reliability. It appears when the relevant question is not what to start but what to keep going, and when the quality of your conduct over time matters more than any single decision.

The classical commentary attaches this to a specific discipline: remaining constant without becoming rigid, and continuing a practice after the novelty has worn off. Movements and reversals are natural and are not reasons to abandon a sound course. The hexagram's promise is conservative but real—durable results belong to people who stay in the same direction long enough.
